We Can Quit
A Free Stop Smoking Programme Available in Donegal
We Can Quit, a free stop smoking programme, is being provided by the Donegal Local Development Company CLG in partnership with Sláintecare in Donegal.
We Can Quit is a free community and peer-led stop smoking programme for men and women who want to quit smoking. The 7-12 week course will commence in Ionad Naomh Pádraig. We Can Quit offers weekly group support sessions, one-to-one support from the Community Facilitators, and free Nicotine Replacement Therapy. We Can Quit will be delivered by trained Community Facilitators and follows the standard treatment programme for stop smoking services but takes a holistic approach to smoking and health. It incorporates elements such as healthy eating; physical activity; stress management and self-care; gender and health; etc., that will further support individuals on their quit smoking journey and help sustain long term quitting success.
Speaking about the programme, Community Facilitator XXX, said: “There are three core elements to the programme. We offer one-to-one support, which is tailored to the individual
needs of the person. We provide group support, which is facilitated by our trained Community Facilitators and the strength of which lies in the support from the other people in
the group, all of whom are on the same journey, with the same goal, which is to quit smoking for good. In addition to the support offered, participants will have access to free nicotine
replacement therapy (NRT) and professional advice on how to use it.”
